About Me

Beyond the Camera
Hi, I'm Michael, the photographer behind Advocate Photography.
Photography has always been about people for me. I love meeting couples from all walks of life, hearing how they met, and being trusted to document one of the biggest days of their lives.
My interest in photography grew over time. What started as enjoying the challenge of taking a good photograph soon became a genuine appreciation for capturing moments that can't be recreated. That naturally led me to weddings, where every smile, every hug and every reaction is real and completely unique.
Over the years I've had the privilege of photographing weddings in castles, country houses, hotels, gardens and family homes across Ireland. No matter the location or size of the celebration, I still get the same satisfaction from capturing the moments couples never even realised were happening. For me, the greatest compliment is hearing that my photographs brought people right back to how the day felt.

My Approach
When it comes to photographing weddings, I believe the less I interrupt, the better.
Your wedding day isn't a photoshoot—it's a celebration. It's about spending time with the people you've invited to share one of the most important days of your life, not disappearing for hours to pose for endless photographs.
That's why I take a relaxed, documentary approach. I quietly blend into the background, capturing the laughter, the happy tears, the hugs, the unexpected moments and all the little details that make your wedding uniquely yours.
Of course, we'll still make time for some beautiful portraits together, but they won't take over your day. My aim is always to create photographs you'll love while making sure you get to enjoy every minute of your wedding.
Kind Words
Outside of Weddings
When I'm not photographing weddings, you'll probably find me at home with a coffee in hand, editing photographs while my cat supervises and judges me silently from the nearest chair.
I'm slightly obsessed with cats (although my family would probably say very obsessed), and love pointing my camera in their direction. They're wonderfully photogenic, completely ignore instructions and somehow always manage to steal the spotlight. Maybe that's why I enjoy documentary photography so much—you can't force great moments, you just have to be ready when they happen.
Why Wedding Photography?
People often ask why I chose weddings.
The answer is simple: no two are ever the same.
Every wedding brings different people, different venues, different weather, different light and a completely different atmosphere. I enjoy the challenge of adapting to whatever the day throws at me and finding the best way to tell each couple's story.
What I enjoy most, though, is the people. Weddings are full of genuine emotion—whether it's nervous excitement before the ceremony, a proud parent trying to hold back tears, or friends completely forgetting there's a camera nearby once the dancing begins. Those are the moments that matter, and they're the ones I love capturing.
